Report: Kesha sues producer for sexual assault, battery

Pop star Kesha is reviving claims about her longtime music producer, Dr. Luke.
TMZ is reporting that in a new lawsuit, Kesha, 27, says she was sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abused for nearly 10 years by him, starting when she signed on with him at 18.
She says he would force her to use drugs and alcohol, and that he made repeated sexual advances toward her.
In one instance, Kesha claims that after forcing her to drink with him, Dr. Luke gave her what he called "sober pills." TMZ reports, "Kesha claims she woke up the following afternoon, naked in Dr. Luke's bed, sore, sick … and with no memory of how she got there."
This isn't the first time that Kesha has made complaints about Dr. Luke, 41, whose real name is Lukasz Sebastian "Luke" Gottwald.
In January, Kesha checked herself into rehab, claiming Dr. Luke was behind her eating disorder issues. Her mother, Pebe Sebert, told People: "Dr. Luke had been telling her how she had to get in shape and lose weight and all this stuff. She was exercising and dieting and ultimately doing everything she could, but not getting thin fast enough. And that's when she first became bulimic."
When she came out, she dropped the $ from her name.
Kesha is now claiming there was also physical abuse, saying Dr. Luke once attacked her at his Malibu house, "violently thrashing his arms at her." She says she escaped and ran barefoot down the Pacific Coast Highway and hid in the mountains.
Kesha is asking a judge to let her out of her contract with him.
Kesha's lawyer, Mark Geragos, tells TMZ that the lawsuit is "a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for 10 years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and an instance of sexual assault at the hands of Dr. Luke."
Dr. Luke has not responded to requests for comment — to TMZ or USA TODAY. And Kesha's reps have not responded to requests for comment.
You're probably better acquainted with Kesha Rose Sebert as the high-energy, free-spirit Ke$ha (though she recently dropped the dollar sign). But since she broke into the music scene in 2009 with the debut of party song 'Tik Tok,' the singer has made her name in the pop industry by playing by her own rules.
